In Carlos Castaneda books...

(If you haven't read any of them, just stop reading this and go read one).

There's a point in the warrior's path when he (or she) finds himself between two worlds.

Between the ordinary and the sorcerer's description of the world.

This is the edge I find myself in the last few days.

Yesterday, I went through a door that seemed impossible.

I was hooked...

I was emotionally reactive...

I was hating my partner and myself for how impossible everything is...

I had narrowed focus, nothing else was possible, I'm right, she's wrong, everybody is wrong, everything is wrong!

Aha! That was the sign!

Noticing the sign created a gap between the experience and reality.

Still, I had no way to move away from the experience.

I allowed myself to be more fully in the experience of "I HATE THIS!".

​

After consciously being in that experience and gathering the flavour of it.

I shifted and used the secret golden key phrase outloud:

"I'm hooked!"

​

This golden key is the first step to getting unhooked...

To unsnapping yourself from the ordinary description of the world.

What are you hooked on? What are the stories? The conclusions? The evidence? The emotions (anger, sadness, fear and joy)?

​

Then, for a fraction of a second, I saw the doorway...

For that sliver of a moment, I saw it! I felt it!

All the stories ceased to exist.

The emotional state disappeared to give way to a crystal clear calm clarity.

My gremlin moved from running the show to standing beside me.

I hesitated, so the doorway went away.

​

"Oh, dear Carlos", says Don Juan, "you've arrived at an interesting crucifix."

Carlos had one foot in the sorcerer's world (perceiving reality as pure energy flows).

And one foot in the ordinary world (assembling reality from distorted stories and filters).

Carlos still had a lot of investment (more or less 50%) in the ordinary world description.

→ There is an authority figure who knows better than I

→ Linear time, past, present, future

→ Linear life plan be born, go to school, graduate, get a girlfriend, find a job, save money, retire, write a book, die

→ Stories are an accurate rendering of reality (I.e.: we need money to live)

→ Gremlin's low drama and emotional reactivity are life

→ Using inner resources to defend the ordinary world description

→ Avoid responsibility

​

But Carlos had gained enough Matrix and skills to see into the sorcerer's world.

→ Freeing and redeploying his energetic center

→ Holding his center in a small here and now

→ Getting his authority to say how it is and how it goes

→ Having his gremlin not run the show but become an ally

→ Not letting ANY story overlay on top of reality

→ Becoming unhookable

→ Using his sword of clarity in service of his archetypal lineage

​

In this crucifix, there's not much for the Warrior to do.

Only to wait until they are more fully on the other side.

Continue their practices that divest from their commitment to defending the ordinary description of the world.

And continue investing in their commitment to extraordinary living in reality.

​

You might not have as much time as you think.

Don't fall asleep and let your Gremlin run the show.

Authentic Adulthood can be ecstatic and beyond anything you could have imagined.

Let yourself lose the extra weight, change your shape and fly!
